Pat Nevin has backed Chelsea to swoop in and hijack a move Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, who’s a target for Manchester United.
Chelsea are set for a busy summer and Fabrizio Romano has revealed the three positions he expects the Blues to fill in the upcoming window.
A striker is without doubt the main priority, with the Blues desperate for an alternative to Nicolas Jackson, whilst Enzo Maresca is said to want a right footed attacker.
The Blues are also reportedly looking to bring in another centre back, and are said to be keen on bringing Marc Guehi back to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea already have one centre back in Mamadou Sarr arriving this summer, having agreed a deal in January for the 19-year-old.
Dean Huijsen is another possible target with Chelsea said to have a good relationship with people close to the Spain international , who has a £50m release clause active this summer.

However, former Blue Nevin has backed his old club to hijack a move for Everton star Branthwaite and claims it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Blues made a move.
“If it had been me at Chelsea, I would have gone for Jarrad Branthwaite a year ago over any player that Chelsea did sign in that defensive area,” Nevin told CasinoHawks as quoted by Metro.
“For me, for over a year, he’s just looked like the best up-and-coming centre back in business.
“Dean Huijsen at Bournemouth is also special, he could become a Virgil van Dijk type, but we shall see. Certainly with Chelsea, Branthwaite ticked every single imaginable box.

“But it would be expensive. So if Manchester United took him it wouldn’t be a surprise. If Chelsea took him it wouldn’t be a surprise.”
Branthwaite missed out on Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad and has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees this season.
