Foot Mercato report that Chelsea midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko has reached an agreement principle to move to Ligue 1 club Marseille during this summer transfer window.
President Pablo Longoria has been seeking a box-to-box playing midfielder throughout the transfer window. New manager Igor Tudor has also spoken with a number of players about coming, including Hellas Verona midfielder Adrien Tameze and Trazbonspor’s Abdülkadir Ömür.
OM have advanced considerably in the attempted signing of the 27-year-old ex-Monaco midfielder Bakayoko in the meantime. The player is under contract with the Blues until June 2023. He spent the last 2 seasons on loan at AC Milan, and in 2021/22 he made just 5 starts and 14 appearances in Serie A.
Thomas Tuchel has been clear that he is not counting on Bakayoko for the coming campaign.
Bakayoko has reached a 4-year agreement in principle to join OM – President Pablo Longoria and ex-manager Jorge Sampaoli green lit the deal. But new boss Igor Tudor is currently blocking the deal. This week, a meeting was held between Longoria, Sporting Director David Friio and Bakayoko’s agent to unblock the situation.
For the moment, Tudor is continuing the delay the deal – in Spain, it is believed that there is strong interest from Valencia in the player’s services.
