Tim Sherwood has provided his verdict on Blackburn Rovers' trajectory amid a clear message to Blackburn Rovers supporters after victory over Preston..
Blackburn Rovers legend Tim Sherwood spoke as a pundit on Sky Sports during their 1-0 win over Preston North End on Friday night.
Sherwood joined Blackburn Rovers in 1992 and became a key figure in the most successful period in the club’s modern history. A composed, intelligent midfielder, he was one of their best players for many seasons at Ewood Park.
He was valued for his leadership, range of passing, and all-round ability in the middle of the park. Sherwood was well respected within the dressing room and developed a strong understanding with senior figures, even if he was never the most flamboyant personality.
His biggest achievement came in the 1994/95 season when Blackburn won the Premier League title under Kenny Dalglish. Sherwood played a significant supporting role in a side built around strong characters and defensive solidity.
While not always a guaranteed starter, he contributed important performances during a historic era for the club. He was also captain in that season, even if Alan Shearer and co. had a more meaningful impact in terms of winning matches in both boxes.

His former side won 1-0 deep into added time last night, completing a league double over Preston in the process. Yuki Ohashi's header secured their second victory in as many matches under Michael O'Neill.
Sherwood offered his reaction at full-time via Sky Sports, sending a clear message to Rovers supporters as well. Sherwood said: “To make them fans happy and come back, there will be another 2000 on the gate for the next home game.
“You know they will come. They’ve got to forget — I talked about the severity of the situation. No one wants to see Blackburn in League One. The fans don’t.
“They feel like they’ve been let down by the owners. They’ve got to put that to one side. They’ve got to get there and support Michael and the group of players at the moment with what they have.
“And keep that club in the Championship. You just never know, someone might just come up and buy the club, and they end up back in the Premier League.”
Smiling and with a slight laugh, he added: “And then maybe winning it again. Am I getting too far ahead?”

Blackburn were the much better team in the second half, with Sherwood praising their display. He said: "They were certainly the team on the ascendancy. Michael made the changes at the right time and it paid dividends in the end.
"With the two up front, straight away from the teamsheet, I felt refreshed from that. I thought they were a little bit too predictable in the first half. I thought they looked better when they were untidy.
"What I mean is get the ball forward. It doesn't have to be precise, but you've got willing runners up there. And you get up. If the midfielders know the ball is coming, and the wide players know it's coming — get it up, win the second balls, and then go from there.
"Get crosses into the box. That's what they need to do more and more of. And they're a real threat up there. They are. They've got a nice solid base."
