Timothée Chalamet, the Franco-American actor, fresh from winning best actor at the Golden Globes on Sunday, reiterated his attachment to AS Saint-Étienne and said a perfect 2026 would depend on the club going up next season.
"It has started pretty well, I am very lucky. But for 2026 to be truly perfect, Saint-Étienne need to be back in Ligue 1 next season," he told Paris Match as the ceremony wound down.
Chalamet has followed Les Verts since the 2000s. In December 2024, in a Canadian interview, the 30-year-old said he once tailed the team bus by bike to their hotel and spoke about Bafétimbi Gomis and Dimitri Payet, that ASSE generation from 2007-2009 he supports.
He described himself as a big Saint-Étienne fan and said it is probably the team he supports most in the world, even more than the New York Knicks.
After 18 matches, Saint-Étienne sit fourth, one point behind second place, which brings automatic promotion.
