Tiquinho Soares is negotiating a contract termination with Santos, despite being tied to the club until the end of 2027 and currently on loan at Mirassol. Fortaleza have recently checked on his situation for the rest of the season.

According to Globo.com, the club and player remain in talks. Soares is prepared to split the money owed into instalments but wants a larger upfront payment, and he is wary of problems settling the remainder given the club’s finances. Santos hope to reach an agreement similar to the recent deal with Tomás Rincón.

The 35-year-old has largely been a substitute at Mirassol this season, scoring one goal in 10 appearances.

His most recent outing was on 16 May, a 3-1 defeat for Mirassol against Atlético-MG in the 16th round of the Brasileirão.

Signed by Santos at the start of 2025 with hopes he would be the club’s leading scorer, he began brightly but faded and finished the year out of favour. He recorded seven goals and four assists in 40 games. In the final match of last season he stayed on the bench, with Thaciano preferred up front and scoring twice against Cruzeiro.
