Tiquinho Soares has joined Mirassol on loan from Santos until the end of the season. The centre-forward will compete in the Brasileirão, Libertadores and Copa do Brasil for the São Paulo state club.
Diario Do Peixe reports that the striker had little room at Santos and asked to leave, even agreeing to forgo nearly half of what he was due. The board sought more, so talks over a contract termination stalled. With the loan arranged to secure minutes, Santos will cover a large share of his wages.
This year he missed the start of the campaign with a calf oedema and trained internally. Once fit, he was on the bench against São Paulo in the Brasileiro, then was not selected for the meetings with Noroeste in the Paulista and Athletico-PR in the league.
He also lost the number nine shirt following the arrival of Gabigol. Signed in January 2025, Tiquinho joined Santos in a linked deal with Botafogo that took defender Jair to the Rio club, and he agreed terms through to the end of 2027.
At Botafogo he made 120 appearances, scoring 44 goals and supplying 17 assists, and was a key figure in the 2024 Brasileiro and Libertadores titles. For Santos he recorded nine goals and four assists in 43 games. The 35-year-old from Sousa, Paraíba, previously played in Portugal with Vitória de Guimarães and Porto, in China with Tianjin Teda, and in Greece with Olympiacos before joining Botafogo in 2022.
