Toby Collyer joins West Brom and targets fresh start | OneFootball

Toby Collyer has completed a permanent move to West Bromwich Albion from Manchester United and is intent on proving his worth. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 22-year-old has signed a four-year deal for an initial £3m, with add-ons to £7.6m, and United retain a 40 per cent sell-on.

He travelled north east from Manchester to meet team-mates and finish medical checks, and cameras filmed him leaving the team bus at the Riverside on Saturday. He then watched a 3-1 defeat to Middlesbrough that ended Albion's 100 per cent Championship start, a match that featured controversy including two offside Boro goals.

Head coach James Morrison drove the deal, with Albion seeing off Middlesbrough and Hull for his signature. The West Sussex-born midfielder is also formerly of Brighton and spent four years at Old Trafford.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at The Hawthorns, a five-month spell curtailed by injury to 12 appearances, three starts, under Ryan Mason. A later loan at Hull was similarly disrupted, though he featured regularly for Manchester United in pre-season.

Collyer said he enjoyed last season despite falling short of his aims and has returned to show supporters what he is about. He believes those loan spells made him grow up and feels now is the right time to move and kick on.

He also praised Morrison, recalling regular midfield video work, extra drills and pep talks when the Scot was a first-team coach.
