The fee is considered low given the current market, where United’s rivals are selling their academy products for huge fees.

It must be remembered that the midfielder has 13 caps for the Old Trafford side, which should ideally fetch a much higher fee.

At least INEOS are being ruthless this time around, and the potential inclusion of a sell-on clause in addition to a buyback clause could net the club millions in the future.

Mason Greenwood and Alejandro Garnacho’s sales have helped fill up the coffers this summer, and more could be on the way.
