Todd Boehly steps down from Chelsea chairmanship | OneFootball

Todd Boehly is leaving Chelsea after four years at the club. The American technology group Clearlake Capital Group, which was already a shareholder in the London club, has bought the shares of the now former 52-year-old owner.

Boehly had served as chairman of Chelsea since 30 May 2022, after the club was bought from businessman Roman Abramovich. Since then, the club had been run by three other entities: American Mark Walter, Swiss businessman Hansjörg Wyss and the Clearlake group - now the majority shareholder.

“Yesterday marked an important milestone and the beginning of the next chapter for Chelsea. We thank our departing partners and are grateful for their contributions to the club. We move forward with a shared purpose, a clear direction and confidence in what lies ahead,” the Blues said in an official statement, going on to add:

“Our ambition is clear: to compete at the highest level, win major trophies and build lasting success.”

The businessman also made a point of saying goodbye. “It has been an honour to serve as chairman of Chelsea FC. I would like to thank the many people who helped secure a promising future for the club, including the Premier League, the coaches and players, the talented leadership and staff at Chelsea, as well as the legions of dedicated fans,” Boehly wrote on social media.

After winning the Conference League and the first FIFA Club World Cup in the new format in the 2024/25 season, Chelsea has now confirmed a new era at the club.
