According to Sky Germany, Schalke will trigger the buy option for Tom Krauß if they are able to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
The fee for Krauß will be a €3m fee plus €1.5m in potential bonuses as well. The 21-year-old will then sign a contract until 2027. A fee of €500k for the loan was already paid by Schalke to RB Leipzig. However, if Schalke are relegated at the end of the season then the contract between the two will not be valid.
It is also unlikely that Krauß will play any role at Leipzig in the future. At Leipzig, there is already Xaver Schalger, Kevin Kampl, Amadou Haidara and the incoming Nicolas Seiwald all able to play in the same position as Krauß meaning it would be harder for him to have a place in the starting 11.
This season Krauß has played in every single game for Schalke, scoring once in the process. Schalke currently sit 17th in the Bundesliga one point from safety.
