While several sources reported that Tom Saintfiet had stepped down as head coach of Mali, the man himself has dismissed all these rumors.

Tom Saintfiet remains the head coach of the Mali Eagles and has no intention of abandoning his mission despite what is being said in the media. The Belgian tactician took to his Instagram account to set the record straight.

"Contrary to what some media outlets have reported, I have not resigned from my position in Mali and I have not applied for the job in Rwanda," wrote the 52-year-old coach.

This statement puts an end to the unfounded rumors swirling around Tom Saintfiet since Mali’s elimination by Senegal (0-1) in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Appointed as Mali’s head coach in August 2024, the Belgian boasts a record of 9 wins, 7 draws, and 3 defeats in 19 matches. His contract runs until August 2026.
