Southampton have made one signing in the January transfer window so far
Tonda Eckert has hinted that Southampton are planning to make signings in the final days of the January transfer window.
The Saints are struggling for form in recent weeks, having failed to win any of their last seven fixtures in the Championship.
This has led to pressure mounting on the head coach, who could find himself out of a job despite only being made the permanent replacement to Will Still on 5 December.
The Hampshire outfit have their sights set on promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt, but they are now cut adrift of the play-off places.
Southampton have made just one signing this January, bringing in Daniel Peretz from Bayern Munich on loan for the second half of the campaign.

Eckert has claimed that Southampton are trying to avoid making any desperate moves as a response to their poor form, having earned just three points since their victory over West Brom on 9 December.
He believes that the club will make something happen in the market, with the January window set to shut on 2 February, giving clubs just under two weeks to complete any remaining moves.
"We shouldn't take any desperate decisions,” said Eckert, via Alfie House on X.
“There are still a few days and I am sure we will make something happen."
Southampton are aiming to earn promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt, but their recent results have left them on a long shot to even earn a play-off place.
The Saints are 15th in the table following last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Hull City, and supporters have begun to vent their frustration with Eckert due to their drop in form.
The 33-year-old’s side are 10 points adrift of the top six after 27 games played, with some of their rivals even holding a fixture in hand at this stage.
Next up for Southampton is a home clash against Sheffield United on Wednesday evening in a 7.45pm kick-off.

If Eckert isn’t going to be in charge of the first team for much longer, which certainly seems a possibility, then it’s tricky for the club to act in the winter market.
A defeat to Sheffield United could be enough for another change in the dugout, and the club should be avoiding bringing in any new players without a permanent replacement lined up.
It is yet another example of the mismanagement at the heart of Southampton’s underwhelming campaign.
