Tony Harrington will referee Leeds United’s Elland Road Premier League opener against Brentford on Sunday, the Premier League have confirmed. It is Leeds’ first home match of the 2026/27 season.

Daniel Farke’s side return from two trips to Nottingham Forest, a 1-0 league win followed by a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory on Tuesday courtesy of Daniel James and James Justin.

Brentford also arrive in form, posting a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend and a 6-1 midweek victory at Birmingham City.

Scott Ledger and Akil Howson will be assistants, with Farai Hallam as fourth official. Neil Davies will oversee VAR at Stockley Park.

Harrington oversaw 12 Premier League matches last season, averaging 19.67 fouls and 3.17 yellow cards per game, among the division’s more lenient. A handful of Championship fixtures produced similar figures.

Leeds had him only once, a 1-1 draw at Sunderland in December. The match passed without major controversy and saw one booking, though his lenient approach was evident after late challenges on Joe Rodon.
