Tony Mowbray is the bookmakers' favourite for the Blackburn Rovers vacancy, with Slaven Bilic also in the frame. Rovers were unable to keep hold of Michael O’Neill after he guided them to safety, and he will return to his Northern Ireland role.
ExpressAndStar.com reports that two former West Brom bosses head the betting to replace O’Neill at Ewood Park. Blackburn and Albion were neck and neck in the relegation fight this season.
BetVictor prices Mowbray at 1/3, with Bilic at 9/4. Both previously won promotion with Albion. A return would be his first job since leaving Albion in April 2025.
Mowbray lifted the Championship title with Albion in 2008, taking them up before leaving for Celtic. Cleared to return after a cancer battle, he replaced Carlos Corberan in January 2025 but was dismissed after 17 games as the play-off push faded.
He remains popular at Blackburn, where he won promotion from League One and re-established the club in the Championship.
Bilic led Albion to the Premier League in 2020 and last worked in England with Watford. He has been out since leaving a role in Saudi Arabia in 2024.
Appointing either would make it a second straight hire of a former Albion manager, with O’Neill having replaced Valarien Ismael after his February sacking.
