From zero to one hundred in just a few weeks: Lennart Karl has played his way into the hearts of FC Bayern fans in a very short space of time and triggered hype throughout footballing Germany. The 17-year-old exceptional talenthas now explained how he deals with the increased expectations

A magic left foot and dream goals in the Bundesliga and Champions League: Lennart Karl’s rapid rise at FC Bayern has not gone unnoticed by soccer fans in Germany. Recently, even six-time Champions League winner Toni Kroos went into raptures and was reminded of his own career.

Those responsible at the German record champions are also convinced, with the result that they have apparently long since decided to tie the talent to the club for the long term.

Public interest? Karl: „I try to largely ignore it“

In addition to all the internal trust and praise, the fuss surrounding Karl is also enormous in the media landscape. Can’t that go to your head?

In an interview with DFB.de, the 17-year-old referred to his personal environment: „My advisor and my parents help me a lot.“ He took the new public interest in his person calmly: „I try to largely ignore what is written about me on social media. Of course I use it, and I’m happy when positive things are written about me. However, every career has downs at times when you shouldn’t let the news get to you too much, as it can affect your performance,“ said Karl.

A healthy and mature attitude for a 17-year-old who is still going to school alongside his professional career. When asked about his personal goals in the coming years, Karl remained down-to-earth: „That definitely includes finishing school, then that would be out of my head. I also want to get my driver’s license and have my own car when I’m 18, that will make everything easier. I just want to perform consistently on the pitch,“ said the FC Bayern attacking talent.
