Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez isn’t currently among Chelsea’s summer targets despite recent links according to reports.

The Blues ended up having a quiet January, despite looking to bring in a new centre back and pursuing Jeremy Jacquet for the majority of the window.

Jacquet ended up signing for Liverpool, and the Blues opted to recall Mamadou Sarr from his loan at Strasbourg six months early.

Julian Alvarez not currently a Chelsea target

Even with the summer window still a number of months away, work will already be well underway on targets, and Chelsea have been linked with a number of names.

The most exciting of those is without doubt Alvarez, who’s scored 40 goals in 89 appearances since joining Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea have reportedly held conversations over a move for Alvarez, with Barcelona and Arsenal also thought to be interested in the 26-year-old.

However, Mail Sport have reported that despite links Alvarez is not thought to be currently among Chelsea’s targets for the summer.

The report adds there’s secrecy surrounding the names of targets as the Blues don’t want to upset the clubs they play for.

Jason Cundy has urged Chelsea to make a move for Alvarez, with it reported Atletico are looking for around £86m.

Emmanuel Emegha arriving in the summer

Whilst Alvarez reportedly isn’t a target right now, Chelsea do have a striker arriving in the summer in the form of Emmanuel Emegha.

Emegha has already signed a seven year contract at Stamford Bridge, and will link up his new team-mates after completing the season with Strasbourg.

The Dutch international scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 last season, and knows Liam Rosenior having worked with him for 18 months.

Emegha is expected to go straight into the first team squad and compete for minutes with current strikers Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
