Torino remain intent on signing left-back Rafa Obrador for next season after choosing not to trigger the nine million euro purchase clause in his loan, with the Spaniard still a priority target.
According to La Stampa, the Serie A club will seek more favourable terms, aiming to cut Benfica’s price for a permanent move. His displays in Turin were viewed positively and appealed to Ignazio Abate, the club’s new head coach.
Benfica’s stance is unchanged, matching the original buy option, a figure shaped by their agreement with Real Madrid. The Spanish club are entitled to 50 per cent of any future sale.
Talks are ongoing, with Torino waiting for any softening on the fee or exploring another loan that includes an obligation to buy. Benfica are monitoring the situation while shaping their 2026/27 squad plans.
After returning to Benfica at the end of his loan, Obrador’s future remains unresolved. A departure is possible if a proposal suits all parties. Signed with high expectations, he made only one senior appearance for Benfica before joining Torino in the winter window.
