Cassius Mailula, a Toronto FC player, has been loaned out to KV Kortrijk until June 30, 2026. The South African international joined the Belgian club on September 8, with a clause allowing for a permanent transfer at the end of the loan spell.
Cassius Mailula has joined the ranks of KV Kortrijk, a club competing in Belgium's second division, after an agreement was reached with Toronto FC. The Canadian side officially confirmed the loan of the 24-year-old attacking midfielder. The deal includes a purchase option, which can be triggered at the end of the season.
Born in Ga-Molepo, Limpopo province, Mailula came up through the Mamelodi Sundowns academy. After making a name for himself in South Africa, Mailula joined Toronto FC in July 2023. He played eight matches for the Canadian outfit, tallying two goals and an assist. In 2024, he was loaned to Wydad Athletic Club, where he made 36 appearances across all competitions, recording six goals and seven assists.
"Mailula is an attacking player who can operate in several positions. He took part in the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, where he also found the net," explained KVK sporting director Nils Vanneste.
