Aston Villa will lock horns with Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium this Tuesday as they look to earn a positive result on the road in the UEFA Champions League. The Villans could only secure a 0-0 draw away at Hull City recently, so they would be eager to return to winning ways in midweek.

Unai Emery will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some changes to his first team for this game. Pau Torres and Joao Gomes could both play from the start of this clash.

Defence

Zion Suzuki will continue to function in between the sticks for the Villans after keeping a clean sheet in his last outing. Victor Lindelof will operate alongside Pau Torres at the heart of Emery’s backline as they look to keep a good shape when defending inside their half.

Matty Cash will try to prove his worth as the left-back, while Ian Maatsen hopes to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.

Tyrone Mings will offer cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.

Midfield

Joao Gomes and Boubacar Kamara will anchor the midfield for the West Midlands club as they look to win the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park and engineer some decent chances in the final third.

The gifted trio of Greg Hemmings, Emiliano Buendia and John McGinn will play just ahead of them as part of Aston Villa’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if the Villans are to come out on top this Tuesday.

Lamare Bogarde and Alysson will have to settle for a place on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if needed.

Attack

Nicolas Jackson will spearhead Aston Villa‘s attack up top. He has to figure out a way to be a real menace in the final third.

Alejandro Garnacho will make up the numbers on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if required.
