Tottenham Hotspur have explored a sensational reunion with Harry Kane, but their former captain appears increasingly likely to remain at Bayern Munich. Kane left Spurs for the Bundesliga giants in 2023 after becoming Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Three years later, the England captain remains one of Europe’s most prolific forwards, and his performances have inevitably fuelled speculation about one final Premier League chapter.

Tottenham have now tested the possibility of bringing the 33-year-old back to north London.

However, the timing may work against them, with Bayern stepping up efforts to secure Kane’s future beyond his current contract.

Tottenham make fresh enquiry over Harry Kane

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have recently contacted Bayern Munich to enquire about Kane’s availability.

Barcelona have also made an approach as they assess their centre-forward options.

Despite that interest, Kane is currently leaning towards remaining in Germany. TEAMtalk reports that Bayern are accelerating discussions over a new contract and that the striker is ready to commit his future to the Bundesliga champions.

That position is reinforced by The Times, which reports that Kane is expected to extend his contract until 2029. Bayern have no intention of selling him and formal discussions are expected as he returns from his summer break.

Kane scored an extraordinary 61 goals last season and now has 146 goals in 147 appearances for Bayern, showing that age has done little to reduce his effectiveness.

Timing does not suit Spurs right now

From Tottenham’s perspective, making the enquiry is understandable.

Kane knows the club, remains adored by supporters and would instantly transform their attack. He is also only 47 goals behind Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260, giving a return to England an obvious personal attraction.

Yet footballing logic currently points towards Munich.

Kane has already won domestic honours with Bayern, remains central to their plans and is still chasing the Champions League trophy that has so far escaped him. A new deal until 2029 would effectively close the door on a meaningful Premier League comeback.

Tottenham were right to ask the question, but unless Kane changes his position dramatically, this looks more like a romantic possibility than a realistic transfer.
