In a recent report, The Athletic mentioned that Tottenham Hotspur are in discussions to land Martin Dubravka this summer. It is believed that Spurs are in advanced talks to acquire the services of the Slovak goalie this off-season.

Dubravka’s Tough Season At Turf Moor

Dubravka endured a tough campaign at Burnley recently as he failed to help them avoid relegation from the Premier League. The Slovak talent conceded 71 goals and secured only four clean sheets in 35 matches for the Lancashire outfit last season on all fronts.

The 37-year-old is currently one of the most experienced goalkeepers in English football. Thus, it is no surprise that Spurs are eyeing a move for him later this year.

Dubravka is set to become a free agent soon, which could open the door for Tottenham to sign him on the cheap this off-season. However, he is past his prime and is now in the twilight stage of his playing career.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi Go For Dubravka?

Dubravka is a good handler of the ball and can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing well on the pitch. He can use his quick reflexes to make some solid saves at the back for his team when he is playing with confidence on the field.

The Slovak sensation doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League. Hence, he wouldn’t take much time to adjust to life at the North London club if they manage to snap him up in this transfer window.

We can expect Dubravka to enhance the quality of Tottenham boss Robert De Zerbi’s squad. He has got the experience to serve as an ideal number two option for the goalkeeping position at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

At 37, Dubravka might still have one good year left in him to play at his best. Thus, it makes sense for the London giants to offer him a short-term contract this summer. The Slovak international will also help Spurs compete across all competitions in the upcoming campaign. All in all, De Zerbi should focus on going all out for him before the end of this transfer period.
