According to a report from RMC Sport, Mathys Tel (20) will remain at Tottenham Hotspur despite interest from across Europe. The French outlet writes that the winger wanted assurances over his playing time, his role in the squad, and his short-term future.

Clubs in France were reportedly on the lookout, with it being rumoured that Tel was seeking a new environment due to his struggles in holding down a spot in the first team. The Frenchman has made 16 appearances this season for Tottenham, but most of these have come off the bench.

Lille OSC were linked a few days ago on Rothen s’enflamme, with RMC Sport explaining that Olympique de Marseille, Paris FC, and AS Monaco had made enquiries. Further abroad, Atlético de Madrid were reportedly the most committed to testing Tottenham, while Genoa, Sunderland, Real Sociedad, Eintracht Frankfurt, Hamburg, and clubs in Turkey were also interested.

However, the opportunity to sign the Frenchman looks to be over, following a discussion with Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank, with Tel reportedly committed to continuing his stay with the Premier League side.
