Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a third approach from potential investors, as speculation around the club’s future intensifies following the sudden departure of long-serving chairman Daniel Levy. According to BBC Sport, Spurs’ board “unequivocally rejected” an informal expression of interest led by American tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick, reiterating their position that the north London club is not for sale.
Enic Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd, which controls nearly 87% of Tottenham, issued a firm statement confirming that neither Enic nor the Lewis family intend to divest their majority stake. The remaining shares are held by Levy and his family, though his departure earlier this month has fuelled industry talk that Spurs could become vulnerable to takeover bids.
Earick, a former DJ and NASA researcher who founded the tech and media firm Redacted RnD, has stoked speculation with a cryptic social media post from Tottenham’s dressing room, accompanied by a timer counting down to 24 October. Under UK takeover rules, his consortium must either lodge a formal bid by that date or walk away.
This is the third rejection in quick succession, with previous approaches from Amanda Staveley’s PCP International Finance and Firehawk Holdings Limited also rebuffed. Despite the continued denials, industry insiders suggest Tottenham are perceived as “purchasable,” particularly in the wake of Levy’s exit.
Manager Thomas Frank has attempted to quell uncertainty, stating that he has received reassurances from the Lewis family and Chief Executive Vinai Venkatesham regarding the club’s stability and long-term commitment. “The Lewis family has been very transparent,” he said. “It is very clear the club is not for sale.”
Levy’s 24-year tenure left a complicated legacy, marked by both the club’s modernisation and persistent fan protests. Spurs, who ended a 16-year trophy drought with their Europa League triumph over Manchester United in May, now find themselves at a crossroads. Whether Earick’s interest materialises into a formal bid remains to be seen, but Tottenham’s leadership insist their focus is on driving success on the pitch rather than entertaining takeover speculation.
