Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly exploring a move for free agent Mauro Icardi as Roberto De Zerbi searches for goals.
Cronache di Spogliatoio reports the 33-year-old Argentine is being assessed as a short-term option. Spurs have failed to score in their opening four league fixtures under De Zerbi.
The former Inter and Paris Saint-Germain striker is unattached after leaving Galatasaray, where he enjoyed a prolific spell in Türkiye. He has won two Ligue 1 titles and four Super Lig crowns.
The interest comes despite a lavish summer, with Sandro Tonali signed for £100 million, Mateus Fernandes for £85 million and winger Savio for another £85 million.
The club also secured Omar Marmoush on loan from Manchester City with a £60 million obligation to buy, yet he is still waiting for his first goal after starts against Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and in the 3-1 loss to Liverpool.
Dominic Solanke is also goalless across his first five appearances. Richarlison remains out of the first-team picture after a fallout, and has not featured since the 3-0 opening day defeat to Brentford.
Spurs sit 17th in the Premier League on two points, with two draws, two losses and eight conceded. Their Carabao Cup started with a 5-1 win over Charlton Athletic, but a midweek exit to Liverpool underlined the gap to the division’s top contenders.
