Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Liverpool defender Andy Robertson (32) on a free transfer this summer, as they look to add experience and leadership to their squad ahead of Roberto de Zerbi’s first full season in charge, according to reports from BBC Sport.

The Scotland captainconfirmed last week he will leave Anfield at the end of the campaign when his contract expires, bringing an end to a trophy-laden nine-year spell on Merseyside. Robertson has won two Premier League titles and the Champions League during his time at Liverpool, establishing himself as one of the most consistent left-backs of his generation.

Spurs have held a long-term interest in Robertson and attempted to sign him during the January transfer window, but Liverpool were unwilling to sanction his departure mid-season. With his contract now running down, Tottenham have renewed their pursuit and discussions are understood to be at an advanced stage, though sources insist a full agreement has not yet been finalised.

Any move, however, remains dependent on Tottenham retaining their Premier League status. Spurs currently sit 18th in the table, two points behind West Ham.
