Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Spurs have submitted a bid in the region of €40 million, with the proposal expected to be accepted as talks progress.
The England international is keen on the move. Aston Villa had also shown strong interest in Gallagher but were unable to reach an agreement.
Discussions between Tottenham and Atletico are centred on a permanent transfer, with confidence growing that a deal can be finalised.
Gallagher joined Atletico from Chelsea in 2024 in a deal worth around £38 million.
He enjoyed a productive first season in Spain, making 50 appearances under Diego Simeone and scoring four goals.
This campaign has been more fragmented, with Gallagher starting only four La Liga matches.
Atletico are open to selling the midfielder in the winter transfer window as they assess their squad balance and financial position.
Gallagher remains under contract until 2029, but the club will consider offers that meet their valuation.
Tottenham have tracked Gallagher for several years and previously explored a move while he was still at Chelsea.
The 25-year-old is viewed as a natural fit for Thomas Frank’s midfield, offering energy, intensity and tactical discipline.
Spurs are in the market for midfield reinforcements following Rodrigo Bentancur’s hamstring injury, which has sidelined him for several months.
The need for experience and reliability in central areas has become more pressing as the season has progressed.
Gallagher’s ability to press aggressively and cover ground has long appealed to Tottenham’s recruitment team.
Tottenham hope his arrival can inject momentum into a season that demands greater consistency and control in midfield.
