Tottenham Hotspur are pushing ahead with plans to sign Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson this winter transfer window, according to The Athletic.
Talks are progressing with Liverpool as the north London club looks to accelerate a deal that was initially pencilled in for the summer.
Spurs had identified Robertson as a prime target ahead of the 2026/27 season.
They knew they would compete with several clubs to sign the Scotland international on a free transfer when his contract expires on June 30.
Tottenham have since accelerated the move as they attempt to stabilise a challenging campaign.
The Glasgow-born defender would leave a remarkable legacy on Merseyside, having delivered 12 goals and 68 assists in 363 appearances since 2017.
Discussions between all parties are understood to be amicable, with Spurs hopeful of signing Robertson before the transfer window closes.
He is a proven Premier League performer who would bring experience, leadership and elite-level professionalism to the Spurs dressing room.
Robertson will immediately replace Ben Davies, who picked up another injury that could rule him out for a significant period.
He is expected to provide competition for the oft-injured Destiny Udogie, allowing Djed Spence to operate at his natural right-back position.
Robertson has slipped down the pecking order at Liverpool following the arrival of Milos Kerkez.
Even though his exit would leave Arne Slot’s side light on specialist left-back options, the Merseyside club retain the option to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma if required.
The deal represents an opportunity for Tottenham to sign a serial winner with Champions League pedigree and Premier League know-how.
These are qualities that can make an immediate impact both on and off the pitch in this second half of the season.
