Tottenham prepare new Cody Gakpo bid after Liverpool reject £60m offer | OneFootball

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sign the Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo this summer.

They have failed with a £60 million offer to sign the 27-year-old Netherlands international, and a report from Soccernews.NL claims there is a plan to return with an improved offer.

They rate the player highly, and they are looking to get the deal done before the window closes. Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi is also an admirer of the player, and he’s pushing behind the scenes to get the deal across the line.

Tottenham need more quality and depth in the attacking unit. Signing the Liverpool player could prove to be a wise decision. He can operate anywhere across the front three, and he can score goals consistently. Gakpo recently scored a stunning goal against Newcastle United in Liverpool’s opening game of the Premier League season.

Gakpo has 51 goals and 23 assists for Liverpool. 

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decides to accept an offer from Tottenham for the player.

Meanwhile, they will face competition from Manchester City as well. They are closely monitoring the situation of the Netherlands international, and they could look to swoop in.

Liverpool are already lacking in depth in the attacking unit, and losing the Netherlands international could be a mistake. They have been trying to sign a couple of attacking players, but they are yet to succeed.

Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye are targets for Liverpool this summer. If they manage to get those deals across the line, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they sanctioned Gakpo’s departure. However, selling the Netherlands international without bringing in quality alternatives would be a huge mistake.
