Tottenham are reportedly refusing to give up on Morgan Gibbs-White, more than a year after their controversial attempt to sign the Nottingham Forest midfielder. Spurs tried to land the England international in the summer of 2025 after triggering what they believed was a £60 million release clause, but the move collapsed amid a dispute with Forest.

Gibbs-White eventually stayed at the City Ground and signed a new contract, yet Tottenham’s interest has never fully disappeared.

With Roberto De Zerbi’s side still looking for greater creativity and control in midfield, the 26-year-old remains firmly on their radar.

Tottenham could make fresh Gibbs-White push

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are considering another move for Gibbs-White in 2027, with senior figures at the club still convinced he would improve their midfield.

The report claims Gibbs-White has started the new Premier League season strongly, recording one goal and two assists in his first four appearances under Oliver Glasner.

However, Nottingham Forest have no intention of making negotiations easy.

Earlier reporting from TEAMtalk indicated that Forest value Gibbs-White extremely highly following Elliot Anderson’s £116 million move to Manchester City, with sources suggesting they would not consider selling Gibbs-White for less than that figure.

That would make any deal considerably more expensive than the move Tottenham tried to complete in 2025.

It is not difficult to see why Tottenham remain interested.

Gibbs-White offers creativity, energy and Premier League experience, while also being capable of playing as a No.10, an advanced midfielder or in a slightly deeper role. Those qualities could give De Zerbi another player capable of linking midfield and attack.

Tottenham have already invested heavily, spending more than £300 million during the summer, so any renewed pursuit would represent another major commitment.

The key issue is price. Gibbs-White would undoubtedly improve Spurs, but paying close to or above £100 million would create enormous expectations.

Forest are in a strong negotiating position and have little incentive to sell one of their most important players.

From Tottenham’s perspective, the interest is understandable, but patience may be required. If Gibbs-White continues producing at his current level, his value will remain high.
