Tottenham Hotspur have rejected an opening €18 million bid from Galatasaray for midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, according to transfer reporter Sacha Tavolieri.
Spurs have informed the Istanbul club they will demand at least €25m for the player’s signature, with Galatasaray aiming to strengthen their central midfield before the transfer window closes.
Despite Tottenham’s initial rejection, a deal remains possible, and the Turkish champions are considering whether to return with an improved offer.
Progress is also being made on the player’s side, with Galatasaray close to agreeing personal terms with Sarr’s representatives. No issues are expected, as the Senegal international is open to a move to the Super Lig.
Sarr joined Tottenham from Metz in 2021 and established himself as an energetic box-to-box presence in North London.
However, after a busy summer of recruitment under manager Roberto De Zerbi, Sarr has no realistic pathway to regular minutes next season, prompting his desire to leave.
Saudi side Al Ahli have also been linked with Sarr, but a move to the Middle East currently appears unlikely.
Tottenham are open to a sale if their valuation is met, as they target further arrivals in the final days of the window.
A deal for Manchester City’s Savinho has reportedly been agreed, while Omar Marmoush could also make the move to North London before the transfer deadline.
Cody Gakpo remains a target, but Spurs may need to be patient, with Liverpool keen to sign a replacement before sanctioning any attacking departure.
Tottenham begin their 2026-27 campaign away at London rivals Brentford, just under three months after securing Premier League safety on the final day of last season against Everton.
