Tottenham have sacked Thomas Frank after slipping below Leeds United in the Premier League. The club said in a statement that it had made a change in the men’s head coach role and that Frank would leave today, citing results and performances.

Leeds rose to 15th with a 2-2 comeback at Chelsea on Tuesday, Lukas Nmecha and Noah Okafor scoring to earn a vital point. That return lifted the Whites above Spurs, who lost 2-1 at home to Newcastle United the same night.

Spurs trailed 1-0 at the break before Archie Gray levelled, only for Newcastle to restore their lead two minutes later and hold on for a rare away win. Frank’s name was booed repeatedly by the home crowd.

On Tuesday he was convinced he would lead the North London derby at Arsenal next weekend. He acknowledged the scrutiny and stressed responsibility was collective, saying everyone understood the position and the improvements required, with work ongoing.

Spurs have not won a Premier League game in 2026, with only two victories in their last 17 league matches. They are in serious relegation trouble, with just five points separating them and West Ham.

Frank signed a three-year deal in the summer after leaving Brentford to replace Europa League winner Ange Postecoglou, but lasted eight months. During Tuesday’s defeat he was targeted with chants calling for him to be sacked in the morning.

Tottenham’s season has been hit by injuries to Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Rodrigo Bentancur. Eleven first-team players are currently unavailable, including Christian Romero, who is serving a four-game ban after a second red card of the season last weekend.
