Toulouse have been ordered to pay €345,000 to former head coach Patrice Garande after the Toulouse Court of Appeal ruled in June 2026 over his 2021 sacking for gross misconduct.

According to L'Équipe, the payout follows a protracted case, with Garande awarded a further €68,000 in interest. He had sought almost twice that sum, including €180,000 for moral damages, which the court rejected.

Garande had overseen one season at Toulouse, narrowly missing promotion after play-offs against Nantes. On 2 June 2021 the club issued a statement thanking him and saying the collaboration was ending.

He said he had not been informed, with a formal meeting notice sent two days later. The club told judges this was a communications error and that disciplinary procedure was properly followed. He was then dismissed for gross misconduct, with a letter signed by president Damien Comolli accusing him of insubordination and abusive remarks towards staff.

Toulouse referenced an internal audit said to show contemptuous, insulting and discriminatory behaviour. The court received no attestations or audit report, and the club argued employees did not want their statements made public. None of the alleged grievances was corroborated.

Judges also refused his €112,000 claim for loss of chance to earn 2021-22 bonuses, noting he found work at Dijon the following season, so his reputation was not unduly damaged. No further appeal has been filed. Garande now works in radio, covering Stade Malherbe in Ligue 3.
