Severe traffic jams and a fire that halted tram shuttles for several minutes left many Lyon supporters struggling to reach the Panettes park-and-ride in Meyzieu on Tuesday evening for OL’s match against Sparta. It marred the site's first paid night.
According to Le Progres, the Groupama Stadium 2026-2027 season opener coincided with the end of free parking at Panettes, after the 2015 agreement between OL and Sytral expired. The change went down badly with regulars.
From now on, drivers must pay €12.50 per vehicle to use Panettes, a fee that includes TCL bus or tram shuttles to the ground. Parking at the stadium costs €20, or €10 for two-wheelers.
Since June, discontent among regular users has been palpable. Tuesday's difficulties only intensified that feeling.
The queues stretched from the ring road to Panettes, making access arduous for many.
