What was once mere speculation behind the scenes is now confirmed. Metz and Habib Diallo have found common ground. According to Foot Mercato, the 30-year-old forward, currently under contract with Saudi club Al-Shabab, has given his initial approval to return home. After struggling in Saudi Arabia and expressing a desire for a change of scenery, the Senegalese international is taking a significant step in his career. Both sides now agree on the sporting project and other terms, making the deal highly achievable.

One obstacle remains

Despite the agreement, Diallo still faces the toughest hurdle: terminating his contract with Al-Shabab, which runs until 2026. This is the final step required to complete a transfer that would be a massive coup for Les Grenats.

With his return to Ligue 1, Metz is strengthening its squad to ensure a long stay among the French football elite. It’s no wonder the club’s management has set their sights on the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations champion.
