With Reo Hatate also stating his desire to leave for a fresh top-five league challenge, it’s vital that the club adds some more depth and quality to the middle of the park.

Mika Baur has arrived in a £6 million move from Paderborn, and looks very much like a quality addition, with a move for Bosnian International Ermin Mahmic also said to be nearing completion to further bolster Martin O’Neill’s options.

Another player who is also on the clubs radar is Niko Sigur, with it being widely reported that the Canadian international was close to joining the club, only for speculation to have cooled down in recent days.

However, according to a report from Pablo Oliveria, Celtic are now ready to ‘accelerate’ their bid to sign Sigur, with the club’s ‘likely qualification’ for the Champions League proving to be the catalyst for the Hoops to launch their first official offer for the player.
Niko Sigur is thought to be valued at around the £3million mark. Starting his career in his homeland, Sigur moved to the Croatian giants as a teenager, where he quickly progressed from their academy to make his senior professional debut in April 2023.
The 22 year old has become a regular fixture in the Hajduk Split squad, and despite representing Croatia at under 21 level, he was persuaded by Jesse Marsch to represent Canada, and has gone on to win 22 caps for the Canadians, featuring three times in the recent World Cup Finals.
Sigur who operates mainly in the defensive midfield role, but can also fill in just as prominently at right back would be a welcome addition to Martin O’Neill’s squad.

One player who can cover two position is ideal for Celtic, given the current make-up of the squad, the likely additions and the injury situation concerning Niko’s international teammate Alistair Johnston.
