Chaïm El Djebali's bold move
Released by Olympique Lyonnais after being sidelined, Chaïm El Djebali has seen his career take an entirely unexpected turn.
Before 2024, he was considered one of the brightest prospects at the French club and a future star for the Tunisian national team. Since then, he has struggled to get his career back on track.
Tracked by lower-division teams in France and Swiss clubs like Lausanne and Xama, the 21-year-old winger has opted to take a daring leap by joining the league of his homeland, Tunisia.
Born in Décines-Charpieu, he has signed with Union Sportive Monastirienne, an ambitious team competing in the CAF Champions League.
The objective is clear: to earn more playing time and reclaim a spot in the national team—having played just 5 minutes for the Carthage Eagles, in a friendly against Comoros in September 2022 under Jalel Kadri.
