Liverpool boss Arne Slot has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be available for his side’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham.
The defender limped off during Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League win over AFC Bournemouth with a leg injury.
And speaking ahead of the game, Slot said: “He is going to miss the game tomorrow and then we have to see if he is able to play on Sunday, but what we do know is that he is not available for tomorrow.
“You saw that he left the pitch with a bit of pain in his leg, that’s why he misses the game tomorrow. But he’s already on the pitch, not with the team, but with the rehab coach.
“Let’s see how long it will take, but he’s not going to be available tomorrow.”
Alexander-Arnold’s injury likely means Conor Bradley will start at right-back in his place.
Liverpool will have to overturn a one-goal deficit on Thursday if they are to reach the final of the competition which they won last year, following defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the first leg.
“I don’t think I have to prepare them differently than to any other game because from now until the end of the season, and already the whole season, and as long as Liverpool exists, if you play in this shirt you need to win the game,” Slot said.
“That’s for tomorrow, for Sunday, for Wednesday afterwards, and the game after that.
“Even if we go 1-0 down in the league or whatever tournament we’re in, we want to win the game and that’s also what we tried in the away game against Tottenham. I think we were quite close to getting the result over there until the last few seconds when we were down to ten and conceded the goal.
“Nothing changes for this game compared to all the others.”
