Trevoh Chalobah Departs Chelsea, Como Transfer Fee Confirmed | OneFootball

Trevoh Chalobah has ended his almost 20-year Chelsea stay after completing a permanent transfer to Como.

The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Serie A side, who are currently managed by former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

It's a big summer for Como after they qualified for the Champions League for the first time, which will see Chalobah offer European experience as they head into their debut campaign.

Chelsea are believed to have received a fee of €30 million for Chalobah, with an additional €6m in potential add-ons and a sell-on clause.

He becomes the next homegrown star to leave, which will also see his transfer fee booked as ' pure profit' to aid their summer spending on incomings.

Chalobah's exit from Chelsea marks the end of a remarkable rise at his boyhood club, from making the step up from the academy into the first team at Stamford Bridge - a far from easy journey and achievement.

He made 151 first-team appearances for the Blues, scoring eight goals in his time for the club.

During his time at Chelsea, Chalobah won the FA Cup, Conference League, Super Cup, the Club World Cup (both old and new format - 2022 and 2025), along with many accolades during his time in the academy, including the UEFA Youth League in 2015/16.

Chalobah also spent time on loan at Crystal Palace, Huddersfield Town, Ipswich Town and Lorient to further his development whilst on Chelsea's books.

But the time has come for change for both Chelsea and Chalobah.

With the arrival of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace, which saw Chelsea pay £52m, new manager Xabi Alonso requires departures, and Chalobah was one of those.

He had yet to report back for pre-season duty after his call-up to Thomas Tuchel's England World Cup squad.

Chalobah is expected to be followed by Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi, who are set to leave permanently this summer. Meanwhile, Mamadou Sarr is earmarked for a Premier League loan move.

Along with Lacroix, Chelsea also currently have Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Aaron Anselmino, Tosin Adarabioyo and Josh Acheampong on their books.

Alonso confirmed during pre-season that he would like to head into the 2026/27 season with four or five centre-backs. Chelsea will mostly only have one game a week after failing to qualify for any European competition.

In the coming weeks, Chelsea will hope to trim and refine their centre-back options to the number Alonso desires. Otherwise, they risk heading into the season with futures still needing to be resolved.

Following confirmation of his departure, Chalobah took to Instagram to pen a farewell message to end his time at Chelsea.

He wrote: "After 18 years, it’s time to say goodbye to Chelsea. I arrived as a nine-year-old with a dream, and I leave as a man who’s lived that dream in ways I never imagined. This journey tested me, lifted me, and strengthened me.

"To every teammate, coach, staff member, and supporter, thank you for shaping me. I gave everything I had, and I’m proud of the person this club helped me become.

"To the young players: the path won’t always be smooth. But stay ready, stay positive, and keep your faith. God’s timing is always right. Thank you all, truly, with love and gratitude."
