Former Premier League player Troy Deeney believes no one talks about one attribute that midfielder Enzo Fernandez has.

The Argentine didn’t have his best game as Chelsea slumped to a last minute 2-1 defeat against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The defeat means Chelsea’s four game winning run in all competitions has come to an end, and they currently sit eighth in the league, but they could drop lower once all the weekend’s games have played out.

Troy Deeney on Enzo Fernandez

Even though Fernandez wasn’t at his best he still created three chances for his team-mates, and on the whole he’s made a good start to the season.

The Argentine has four goals and one assist in 12 appearances this season, whilst he managed 26 g/a for the Blues last season.

Micah Richards believes Fernandez has completely transformed the attacking side of his game, and Deeney has now said he’s got an attribute no one talks about.

“I think he’s been very good,” he told The Football Exchange.

“His leadership was missed against Forest and that’s something that’s not really spoken about a great deal, but his leadership was missed, especially in this young team.”

Fernandez has not been 100% fit this season, and Enzo Maresca has admitted he’s playing through the pain barrier for the team.

Midfield Chelsea’s strongest area

Whilst the Blues have invested heavily in their squad, midfield is arguably their strongest area with the likes of Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Caciedo is arguably the best midfielder in the league at this point, whilst Fernandez has taken his game to another level.

Lavia has so much ability and now finally fit again, whilst Chelsea also have talented youngsters Andrey Santos and Dario Essugo, who give them great depth.
