Ligue 2 leaders Troyes have rediscovered their spark over the past year and, according to L'Équipe, are preaching humility before facing second-placed Red Star on Saturday at 14:00.
Pindi acknowledges that being top midway is usually a good sign, with 11 promotions from the past 12 autumn leaders, 8 as champions.
He stays cautious, calling the division demanding and insisting the focus is simply to win the next match. The first half has been strong and he expects Troyes to be more closely targeted.
Since City Football Group became majority shareholder in September 2020, Troyes have risen to Ligue 1 in 2021, dropped back to L2 in 2023 and were reprieved from National in 2024 due to Bordeaux’s problems.
He points to the academy, crowned U17 national champions in spring, and a clutch of youngsters now involved, notably Jaurès Assoumou and Mathys Detourbet.
Detourbet, 18, a left winger, has 29 appearances, scored his first senior goal in the Coupe de France in late November and was voted Estac’s player of the month.
Tied to 2028, the right-footed local is in demand. Roma bid €10m late last summer and remain keen, with interest from Germany and Monaco, who could act this winter. He would like to stay at least until season’s end.
Manchester City, the group’s flagship, are also said to be tempted to bring him to northern England. Pindi frames the wider aim as a local project supported across the club, not only on the pitch.
