Troyes bank on youth for Ligue 1 return amid slow window | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, Ligue 2 champions Troyes are leaning on a notably young group for their Ligue 1 return, the market moving more slowly than hoped and survival the target.

Coach Stéphane Dumont is shaping a squad in which more than half are in their twenties or younger. Only Renaud Ripart remains from 2022-2023, when Troyes finished 19th, while veteran captain Adrien Monfray was recruited in 2024 to bring order.

A record off-season has seen 12 academy players sign first professional deals, including 17-year-old Christ Batola. Executive president Edwin Pindi says player development is core to the club's identity.

Dumont notes varying levels of experience among the youngsters. Last season's regulars Mathys Detourbet and Sankhoun Diawara have departed for Manchester City and AC Milan, and there is agreement within the club that reinforcements are required.

After attacking midfielder Iron Gomis and Australian goalkeeper Patrick Beach, more signings are expected in August. Pindi adds that many prospects will start with the reserves as Troyes plan ahead.
