Adrien Truffert struck late to give Bournemouth all three points at St James' Park and move up to eighth in the table.
Cherries boss Andoni Iraola may have been confirmed as leaving the club this summer but his players were still putting in the effort for their departing manager.
The visitors took the lead with just over a half hour gone in the game when Rayan drove in from the right and put in a low cross that Marcus Tavernier was able to convert from close range.
The scores were level midway through the second half. Bruno Guimarães hadn't been on the pitch for long before he threaded a ball forward for Will Osula. The Dane showed great strength to get the better of his defender before charging forward, keeping his cool, and then slotting in beyond Djordje Petrovic.
In what had been a fairly even game, Bournemouth were probably just about the better side and they earned the win late on in the game.
With five minutes left of the 90, the Cherries played some typically silky football with Tavernier standing up a cross to the back post that Evanilson headed down with Truffert on hand to finish and claim all three points for his side.
That result moves Bournemouth up to eight in the table, now level on points with Brentford and Chelsea. Newcastle meanwhile remain in 14th place and are now only three points ahead of Leeds United after suffering a 15th league defeat of the season.
