Galaxy snap up Nigerian star

Betway Premiership side TS Galaxy have announced the signing of Nigerian goalkeeper Kayode Bankole on a free transfer from Remo Stars.

The 22-year-old goalie parted ways with the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) champions at the end of last season, ending a five-year stay with the club.

During his spell with Remo, Bankole kept a total of 46 clean sheets in 93 matches across all competitions, underlining his dominance in between the sticks.

Furthermore, the shot-stopper won two Goalkeeper of the Season awards in his homeland during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns.

On the international level, Bankole has been capped once by the Nigerian national team and is a regular feature in the preliminary and final squad.

Now, in the lucrative Betway Premiership, the Nigerian will compete with lanky Ivorian goalkeeper Ira Tape for a starting spot in goal.

Meanwhile, the Rockets return to league action with a visit to Magesi FC at Seshego Stadium on Saturday, 18 October.
