Tuchel breaks silence on on-field altercation between Bellingham and Cucurella: ‘He doesn’t know any teammates’ | OneFootball

The recent matchup between England and Spain was by far the most exciting one so far in this international break, with tempers flying.

While Spain did eventually secure a 3-2 victory, the absolute highlight of the game for Real Madrid fans was when Jude Bellingham and Marc Cucurella appeared to have a war of words.

This happened when Cucurella attempted a challenge on his Real Madrid teammate, who slid into the ground before pointing gestures towards the Spanish defender.

Tuchel reacts to Cururella-Bellingham altercation

In response, the former Chelsea manager highlighted Bellingham’s professionalism, adding that he doesn’t care about his club teammates when he is playing for the national team.

“I don’t think he knows any of his teammates when he’s with the national team. He wants to win,” he said (h/t Sky Sports).

Tuchel added that while Bellingham is still friends with his club teammates. His national team takes precedence over those friendships.

“He doesn’t know any teammates, he’s still friends with them but not during the 90 minutes,” he added.

Few can argue with Tuchel’s explanation as Bellingham is indeed one of the most competitive players in world football right now and is not afraid to get into the thick of things, even if it is against his club teammmates.

After a gruelling affair against Spain, Real Madrid will keep a close tab on Tuchel’s team selection, with England slated to face Czechia on Tuesday.

Thankfully, Tuchel has indicated that although he would like to have Bellingham play all four matches this international break, he will have to take caution and cannot risk the midfielder’s fitness.

Keeping that in mind, there is a stark possibility Bellingham might start from the bench when England take on Czechia this midweek.

The former Dortmund star, though, is more than likely to start against Croatia, in what could be yet another tricky affair for the Three Lions.
