Former Juventus and Tottenham head coach Igor Tudor is reportedly the leading candidate to take over at Venezia in the event that Giovanni Stroppa is given his marching orders in the near future according to reports on Thursday evening.

Could Tudor return to Serie A after disappointing Tottenham and Juventus spells?

The newly-promoted Venezia find themselves rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table with zero points after their first four league matches of the 2026-27 season. They are the only team in the division without a point after four matches.

They also have the joint-worst defensive record in the division with 11 conceded already.

Up next is a visit from an in-form Lazio side, who have won three and drawn one from their first four Serie A matches under the guidance of Gennaro Gattuso.

If Venezia are defeated by Lazio, making it zero points from five matches, and with an extra-long international break coming up, there is a growing chance that Stroppa is dismissed without a positive result this weekend.

According to reports from SportItalia, Venezia already have a first-choice candidate lined up in the event that Stroppa is dismissed, and that is former Juventus boss Tudor.

The Croatian has been out of work for most of 2026 following a massively disappointing spell in charge of Tottenham. Despite being given a short-term contract until the end of the 2025-26 season in February, he left the club by mutual consent by the end of March.

The 48-year-old also has experiences with Juventus, Lazio, Marseille, Hellas Verona, Hajduk Split, Udinese, Galatasaray and several others on his CV.
