Tunisia have moved swiftly to replace Sabri Lamouchi by appointed experienced international coach Hervé Renard as the nation's new manager.

The Tunisian FA dismissed the former Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City manager after just one World Cup game which the Eagles of Carthage lost 5-1 to Sweden and reports of unrest in the camp.

Instead they have turned to Renard to try and salvage their tournament ahead of games against Japan and the Netherlands.

The 57-year-old Renard has a remarkable managerial CV that has seen coach all over the world – including at Cambridge United.

The Frenchman has plenty of World Cup experience too having led both Morocco and Saudi Arabia at the 2018 and 2022 tournaments as well as having been in the dugout for the French women's team at the 2023 World Cup.

Renard will oversee his first game as new Tunisia manager when they take on Japan in their next Group F game.
