The Tunisian Football Federation briefly announced on Instagram on Monday that an agreement had been reached to sack head coach Sabri Lamouchi, then deleted the post. The message also said arrangements were being made to appoint Mondher Kebaier, apparently on an interim basis.

Despite the episode, Lamouchi and his staff led training in Monterrey on Monday, the day after a 1-5 defeat to Sweden in Tunisia’s 2026 World Cup opener.

The Franco-Tunisian coach was appointed in January.

He had already faced criticism after unconvincing warm-up matches, including a 0-5 loss to Belgium.

Tunisia face Japan on Saturday, then the Netherlands.
