Two Türkiye supporters have been sentenced following a post-match clash with Louis Ducruet, the son of Princess Stéphanie de Monaco, during AS Monaco’s 1-0 Champions League win over Galatasaray on Tuesday.
Monaco-Matin reports that Ducruet and two friends became involved after the final whistle while heading to the toilets.
Ducruet said he was punched in the face, chest and arms, and that he feared for his life. The altercation resulted in between two and four days of medical incapacity.
One supporter maintained he was speaking Turkish to his cousin and denied being aggressive or throwing punches, alleging a friend of Ducruet approached first. He said Ducruet grabbed him by the neck and he felt strangled, while Ducruet responded that he held the man from behind at chest level to stop an attack on his friend.
Tried in immediate proceedings for intentional violence causing less than eight days of incapacity, the pair received two-month suspended sentences, a three-year ban from Monegasque territory and were ordered to pay €1,000 to the victims.
