Unlucky finalists at the 2025 U17 AFCON, Mali lost the final to hosts Morocco in a dramatic penalty shootout (0-0, 4-2 on pens).

The Eaglets are set for their seventh U17 World Cup appearance. They reached the final in 2015 and clinched third place at the most recent edition, held in Indonesia in 2023.
