After Yanis Benchaouch suffered an injury in the semi-final against France, Morocco U20 has called up Ilyass Motik. The young Hassania Agadir shot-stopper is on his way to Chile ahead of the U20 World Cup final, where his side will face Argentina.

Morocco is on the verge of making history on Sunday night into Monday (11 p.m. GMT) as they take on Argentina in the final of the 2025 U20 World Cup. The Lion Cubs are aiming for their first-ever title in this age category.

Leaving nothing to chance and determined to maximize their chances of success, Mohamed Ouahbi has decided to use his "medical joker" to call up Ilyass Motik in place of Yanis Benchaouch. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) confirmed the news on the national team’s official X account.

Yanis Benchaouch, who picked up a quadriceps injury during the dramatic win over France (1-1, 5-4 on penalties), is ruled out for two weeks. Motik returns to the U20 national team for the first time since November 17, 2023, when he featured in a friendly defeat against Tunisia (3-1).
